1917 and Lies that Kill

“Governments lie for a living. That’s not conspiracy theory: that is how governments operate because they deal in power. They don’t deal in truth.” Those words come from economist Jeffrey Sachs in a recent New York Magazine (March, 2023) interview. Sachs is no conservative pundit. He is one of the global elite: an adviser to the World Economic Forum, the Vatican, and an avowed population control enthusiast. He is not being cynical, rather he is speaking from the insider’s point of view; opening the curtain just a bit to give us a glimpse of what really happens in the control room. We may disagree with his political stance but I think it fair to assume that he knows what he is talking about.

Watching our own government in action over the past three years only verifies what Mr. Sachs is saying. We have witnessed in plain view a dual system of justice in this country, one standard for the elite and privileged insiders and another standard, harsher and more punitive, for everyone else. Case in point: contrast the treatment meted out by the FBI to pro-lifer Mark Houck versus the president’s wayward son, Hunter Biden. Houck’s home was raided by an FBI SWAT team last September who terrorized his entire family (including 7 children) over a minor shoving incident at a Pennsylvania abortuary. Thankfully a jury subsequently acquitted Houck of the felonies he was charged with by the DOJ. Meanwhile the same agency spent nearly four years slow-walking their investigation of the Biden laptop containing tons of potentially incriminating evidence of foreign influence peddling, illegal drug use, unreported income, etc. Hunter has been treated with kid gloves throughout, finally pleading guilty to two insignificant misdemeanors. Compare that to numerous grandmas convicted of felony obstruction charges to the clamorous applause of legacy media simply for being escorted by police into the Capitol on January 6.

According to Jack Maxey who recovered much of the deleted material on the Biden laptop, there has been this quiet but cozy relationship between news reporters and intelligence agencies for a long time now. The watchdogs of democracy have apparently become the paid lapdogs of the very folks in power whom they are supposedly watching. Maxey says, “Much of the media is beholden to U.S. intelligence; I think they always have.” As a result he continues, “now they are reluctant to report on their paymasters.” Assuming him to be correct this means that our mainstream “free press” has been captured to become more of a propaganda arm for government than playing its proper role as an independent investigative institution which holds government accountable.

Fr. James Jackson FSSP ~ Culprit or Patsy?

On Thursday June 8, 2023 Fr. James Jackson FSSP entered a guilty plea to felony receiving of CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) in a Rhode Island Federal Court after his initial arrest in Providence, R.I. on Oct. 30, 2021. This “plea bargain” was the outcome of a lengthy legal battle between the United States Attorney (DOJ) and Fr. Jackson’s defense attorney John Calcagni III. During his indictment Fr. Jackson initially pleaded “not guilty” to the charges of the U.S. Attorney. The case was set to go to trial this June 20. As happens in the majority of DOJ cases this one ended in a plea deal under terms of what most fair minded persons would describe as a legal shake down. No surprises here. This is the way our criminal justice system routinely operates. Prosecutors string together a rambling laundry list of intimidating charges in order to get defendants to settle for some lesser violation and punishment. And since it’s extremely costly and time consuming to put together a defense, 95% of the time defendants will simply capitulate and plead guilty to reduced charges.

Because of Fr. Jackson’s position as a traditional Roman Catholic priest in the Latin Rite FSSP, this story generated a lot of interest. Along with much reporting, most of it negative, there came the inevitable avalanche of online chatter which included countless uncharitable comments, some verging on the scurrilous ─ most by self-professing Catholics who aimed their mud-balls at a priest of God! It should sadden any faithful Catholic that there are those of us all to ready and willing to turn on our own priests like dogs fighting over a piece of red meat. Many of those pundits portray Fr. Jackson as some sort of monster vis a vis Theodore McCarrick even though, in this particular case, a better comparison might be the patently unjust conviction meted out to George Cardinal Pell.

Catholics, even traditional ones, seem all too quick to forget their own history. Consider St. Joan of Arc who, if you recall, was condemned and executed for being a sorceress and an unrepentant heretic. During her trial she was utterly abandoned by the armies she had led to victory, betrayed by the King she had restored, and found guilty by an ecclesiastical court. 500 years later the same Church which had condemned Joan declared her a saint. Her case proves just how biased and unreliable contemporary judgments sometimes prove to be. History often judges things through a different lens than the one through which we are currently peering.

Hiding From the Truth

Being in the process of moving to a new city, I confess to having been remiss in posting any new articles over the past few months. Yet in that short time period the saner elements in our society seem to have been toppled by radical, left-wing wokeism, as evidenced by the absurd stories and lies being passed off as headlines. Consider the wave of crime and violent rampages sweeping through many of our major cities which the mandarins of so-called mainstream news networks attribute to food starved youth (all carrying expensive smart phones), or flash mob vandals who loot and burn businesses with impunity yet are blithely excused as exacting overdue “reparations” to which they, as minorities, are surely entitled. Besides, in a racist world the police who protect that racist system need to go, or at least be hamstrung in enforcing racist laws.

Meanwhile, in Nashville, a resentful trans activist cold-bloodedly murders six innocent children and teachers at a Christian school, but the White House chooses to identify itself not with the murdered nine year olds or their families but with the violent perpetrator of this horrific crime – supposedly a tragic victim of transphobic prejudice! Only a half-senile president would even fathom such an absurd narrative. What we are witnessing alongside the death of reason is the deliberate suppression of any truthful dialogue. The whole point is to support a political myth that white Christianity is a dangerous, toxic, and oppressive burden upon society that must be resisted and ultimately rooted out. Perhaps the real problem is not supposedly hateful Christians beating up on trans people but rather a blanket rejection of Christian morality which has enjoined a culture of violent, narcissistic, drug and sex abusers. What we are witnessing is a moral bankruptcy which the left for decades has been promoting as “progressive values.”

The progressive left has thus created a hive mentality which disproportionately affects those young people who have never acquired any good understanding of history, and so they are easily radicalized. Within these Alinsky styled tribal identity groups founded on shared resentments moral rectitude, self control, and even basic honesty are all equated with an attack on one’s basic freedoms. Evil they call good, and good is evil. And the masterminds of this whole diabolical agenda rely heavily on an essential tactic ~ hiding the truth, while hiding from the truth.

Pope Benedict XVI ~ A true German Shepherd

Today was celebrated the funeral Mass for Pope Benedict XVI, a loving and gentle father whose concern for the spiritual good of all the faithful was most deeply manifested through his motu proprio Summorum Pontificum. The Ecclesial career of Fr. and later Cardinal Ratzinger, who would succeed St. John Paul II in the Petrine office as Benedict XVI, showed a commendable willingness to adapt his views from the abstract notions of the young intellectual to the concrete realities and challenges facing the Church. What I mean is that Benedict, like his predecessor, made valiant efforts to reconcile the novel teachings of Vatican II with longstanding Church tradition. History remains to judge whether their attempts to “square the circle” known as Vatican II succeeded or failed.

At this time we can only give both Pontiffs credit for making the effort, an effort which cost Benedict a great deal of opposition, criticism, and mental anguish. Although himself a progressive young periti or theological expert at the Council, time began to reveal that much of the Second Vatican Council was in fact a substantial miscalculation. I mean that instead of healing the rift between the Church and the modern world which the young, idealistic Fr. Ratzinger undoubtedly imagined to be possible, i.e., that the Church would finally convert the world through the means of modern social communications, in fact just the opposite occurred: secular values quickly invaded the Church.

Rather than the Church acting as a leaven in the world, the leaven of the world began to act within the Church through the power of those same means of social communication which flooded both clergy and faihful with its own secular messaging. Within the Church itself “pastoral” became the new catchword for “anything goes” while moral theology became hopelessly confused with sociology. The Council inadvertently opened those floodgates by allowing an admixture of true, long held doctrine to be sprinkled with subtle errors. This occurred when the former clarity in Church pronouncements was replaced by a verbal ambiguity in which, if one carefully reads the documents produced at Vatican II, one can sense the parsing of terms and even internal contradictions throughout many of those same documents. One consequence of the new “pastoral” guidelines being that a whole generation of clerics was trained to believe that the Catholic Church is no longer essential to salvation, therefore one can use means outside the Church to be saved. From this it is but a short step to the belief that all men, at least those of reasonably good will, are to be saved. The problem is that this teaching is not a part of the Apostolic tradition.

Fear Not!

Christmas is above all a season of hope, a chance to throw off all the media induced fear porn we have been bombarded with over the past eleven months and to renew our faith and hope in the One who alone conquers fear and death. Fear is the enemy of both true faith and hope, as the recent pandemic has so copiously illustrated. I say true faith and hope because today we are presented with a counterfeit version of faith and hope which contradicts, and even opposes, those great theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity whose proper object is the Son of God, of whose birth we are celebrating.

The fear mongers in today’s world are working hard and long to distort and secularize the authentic theological virtues so that they are no longer religious, rather they become transformed into humanist values. Faith thus becomes a misplaced faith in human science and progress, not faith in God and His providence. Our hope is no longer for eternal salvation but only a brighter future here on earth. Charity which is an ardent love for God becomes an exaggerated love and concern for nature and the planet. In order to draw our minds away from contemplating the divine Creator as the proper object of faith, hope, and love, the enemies of God are using fear to heighten anxieties over temporal concerns. Thus they redirect the theological virtues towards purely materialistic ends. And the catalyst they have used over and again to effect this devilish transformation is fear.

That They May Be One

Alongside the thorny question of Sacred Tradition v. Holy Scripture, those doctrines concerning the Blessed Virgin Mary have proven to be some of the more contentious barriers for many non-Catholics to reconcile with their understanding of Christianity. On this last day of October, the month of the most Holy Rosary, I thought it appropriate to post some of the Church Father’s thoughts regarding Scripture and Tradition, Mary’s perpetual virginity, the Catholic Church, and even infant baptism. Because without some agreement on these key doctrines Christian unity will never be achieved.

Religious diversity has been a cornerstone of our Western culture for so long now that it has become a given, even among Christians whose competing sects number in the thousands. Nonetheless, the essential question for any serious Christian today, yet rarely asked anymore, remains: is there only One Church founded by Christ or many? Did our Lord intend for there to be countless churches claiming his name or did he mean for there to be a single united body of believers, for as He himself prayed, “Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one… I do not pray for these only but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they may also be in us, so that the world may believe that you sent me.” (Jn 17: 11; 20-21)

Christian unity is thereby identified by Jesus Christ as one of the visible hallmarks that will attract the world to belief in the Gospel. If today’s world is sinking back into the abyss of neo-paganism then undoubtedly part of the cause must be the scandal of disunity among Christians which translates into a kind of religious adventurism allowing each person to follow his or her own take on the Gospel. Like a marketplace, modern Christians feel free to pick and choose from among those items which may appeal to their fancy (while ignoring more challenging demands): Tradition or Scripture (alone); preaching or sacraments; grace or good works; ordained hierarchy or lay governance, priests or ministers of the Word; sacrificial worship or a memorial communion feast. While all these things are important elements of the Church founded by Christ, they are not stand alone tenets but rather ingredients able to congeal together and form a tightly integrated whole which, bound together, forms and expresses a rational and unified deposit of faith.

Ecclesial Freemasonry since Vatican II

The Spring of 2020 witnessed something entirely unprecedented in the 2,000 year history of the Church. Under pressure from government officials the bishops of the world shut down the entire public sacramental life of God’s Church without a whimper of protest, and did so during the holiest season of the year, Lent and Eastertide. Nothing like it had ever been seen before. Under the most virulent Roman persecutions the Church was forced underground, but its sacramental life continued to flow and flourish in the chambers of the catacombs. The faithful continued to be fed in spite of the tremendous risk to life and property. The same can be said during the devastating plagues of the Middle Ages when priests and bishops continued ministering to the souls entrusted to their pastoral care.

In times of great crisis or mortal threat pastors well understood that the sacraments became even more so a necessary and efficacious means of strengthening their flocks against physical and spiritual perils. So what happened in 2020 represents an inexplicable and entirely novel reaction on the part of prelates to a supposed threat, callously barring church doors against their own people ─ on Easter Sunday no less! Rather than working to dispel fear, the fecklessness of many pastors only heightened the tension and enabled manipulative fear mongering by secular public authorities. Something had certainly changed in the general attitude of our cowering prelates. Had they never read the response posed by Peter and John? “Whether it is right to obey men rather than God…” (Acts 4:19)

Considerations on Roe v Wade

It was the most disastrous social experiment in our history. No I don’t mean slavery but a far more destructive horror – Roe v Wade – a judicially imposed policy to enlarge “women’s freedom” which in effect claimed over 60 million unborn American lives. Put into context that is roughly 100 lives lost for every single fatality suffered during America’s Civil War, the deadliest conflict in our nation’s history. Just last Friday five justices on our Supreme Court finally recognized the travesty of that Constitutionally flawed decision, laying to rest its blood-stained legacy after 49 long years.

Forty-nine years is itself Biblically significant: seven cycles of seven years each which have transpired between Roe and Dobbs v Jackson. The date of that decision, June 24, was also highly significant for it marked the conjunction of two major feasts in the liturgical calendar ~ The Feast of the Sacred Heart and the Birth of St. John the Baptist. The last time these two feasts fell together was on June 24, 1960, exactly one day after the FDA had approved the first hormonal oral contraceptive, an event which greatly ushered in the sexual revolution. Development of that first oral contraceptive, Enovid, was largely funded by Margaret Sanger and her Planned Parenthood organization. The work itself was performed by Gregory Pincus and Dr. John Rock, an lifelong Catholic who would eventually leave the Church rather than submit to Humanae Vitae which deemed use of the pill for contraceptive purposes to be objectively immoral.

Sandwiched in between those 62 years (1960-2022) separating the conjoined feasts of the Sacred Heart and St. John the Baptist, who leaped for joy in the womb when his own divine kinsman approached him in the maternal womb of the Virgin Mary, one can witness the anti-conception movement known as the sexual revolution. “For in those days they will say, ‘blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed.” (Lk. 23:29) And so, over this span of less than one lifetime the sexual revolution has greatly exhausted itself in an orgy of angry, destructive self-indulgence. Rather than enhancing intimacy between men and women this revolution has rejected the bonds of conjugal intimacy and family life for a narcissistic expectation of endless self-gratification, an unrealistic expectation which then morphed into today’s angry resentful brand of feminism which regards human fertility as a curse.

Ten Commandments or Ten Suggestions?

Do our bishops really understand the difference?

Fifty-five years after passing the nation’s first liberalized abortion law, Colorado has shamefully doubled down by approving an Unrestricted Abortion Access Act fraudulently labelled as the Reproductive Health Equity Act (RHEA). Such deliberately misleading terminology has sadly become a staple of modern political discourse. Referring to the grisly process of abortion as “reproductive health” is an utterly absurd twisting of word meanings, intended only to mislead and deceive John Q. Public. Imagine legislators passing a bill to encourage and subsidize smoking called the Healthy Lungs Act! Yet that is precisely what the RHEA designation does. It turns the plain meaning of words upside down. Abortion provides neither a health benefit to an unborn child whose health is utterly destroyed through willful death nor to the mother whose emotional and often physical well being can be compromised by chronic depression, a perforated uterus, or permanent sterility. And where is the “equity” achieved for an aborted unborn child who has been unceremoniously stripped of all legal protections.

RHEA is a heinous and cynical effort to make Colorado a safe-haven for abortionists and a center of “abortion tourism” for surrounding “less progressive” states where life in utero may still be cherished and protected. It allows unrestricted access to abortion from conception right up to the moment of birth, for any reason whatsoever including gender selection. (But wait! I thought that parents no longer had the right to choose their child’s gender once they have reached kindergarten age. Yet before they are born it’s okay to unilaterally make such a choice by pruning out an unwanted gender, thus exposing the current hypocrisy of the leftist political class.

That Wascally Little Wirus!

Remember Dr. Fauci’s “two weeks to flatten the curve” promise? Well what he never fully explained was that the curve being flattened was the national I.Q. curve, a curve that has now been so ironed down that it’s beginning to look like western Kansas. What many of us have learned over this past two hellish years is that if the world is not falling apart some people just can’t be happy. I like to call this the Chicken Little Syndrome, or CLS: a pleasurable and profitable (for big Tech/Pharma) experiment in mass psychosis designed to facilitate various anxiety disorders among the public. CLS has played a vital role in “popularizing” the global Covid-19 pandemic for millions by filling up entire nations with newly proselytized hypochondriacs.

Actually, SARS-Cov-2 is proving to be one of the most unusual contagions in the history of medicine. It has been credited with causing massive mortality stats in a surprising variety of ways. These have reportedly included SARS induced gunshot wounds, automobile accidents (probably from wearing face masks a bit too high) fatal drug doses, Remdisivir induced renal failure, and even one reported case where the virus induced its victim to fall off a roof! Not only does this killer snuff out the unwary in multiple ways but respected health authorities advise us that it even behaves differently in different settings. For example, it becomes virtually non-transmissible in large grocery stores or big-box retailers and yet in small mom and pop restaurants, public libraries, and especially churches it quickly morphs into a raging killer. Therefore, such high risk establishments need to be locked down in order to “contain the spread.” (Which is what a mayonnaise jar does, right?)

Speaking of containing the spread, that too is a highly volatile topic, like the virus itself. The optimal method of “spread containment” is to triple mask your entire face, especially when riding a bicycle or driving alone in your car. This way you send a strong message to those rascally little viruses to behave themselves, especially in public! (Every mother’s classic line, I”m never take you kids out in public again if you don’t start behaving.”) Fortunately for those lucky individuals who haven’t already succumbed to asthma reactions, hypoxia, face rashes, and sundry breathing disorders from over-masking, there are now multiple levels of needle jabs for added protection. In fact, some states are now introducing a jab punch card system where, after the fifth jab, you get to attend your child’s Christmas or Easter pageant. (Authorities have been overly generous on this one!)

If you don’t have kids (and after taking the jab you probably won’t have any more) you can use that social credit bonus to attend at least one sporting event or possibly attend church, if you still do that sort of thing. As an added thank you gift you will receive a little American flag sticker that says, “I was jabbed for my country.” It’s very patriotic and heartwarming (assuming your heart still works normally after you get poked).

Of course, those horse-paste guzzling, selfish bastards who refuse to inject God-knows-what into their bodies are a different story. Virtuous Americans are running out of patience with these deplorable, obtuse, red-necked, anti-science trolls. Worse, those red-state philistines even object to their 5-year-old kids getting jabbed (despite that group’s 99.99% survival rate vis a vis the actual virus). The real problem is that these irritating killjoys have no team spirit, and arrogantly assume that they have more right to make their kid’s medical decisions than some opaque government agency or political hack who pretends to be a licensed M.D. Luckily those uncooperative, neandral-thinking “renegades from reason” can now be openly discriminated against in restaurants and hospitals; summarily fired from their jobs; even be shipped off to containment camps for the non-compliant. These sensible policies were carefully crafted by far-seeing leaders which, among other factors, are meant to help ameliorate the developing critical labor shortages that are currently shutting down hospital beds, emergency responses, and supply chain infrastructure. I’m also guessing that in time yellow stars worn on the sleeve will be making a fashion comeback among the anti-vaxx group.

And we all now know that these government mandated jabs are “safe and effective” because, so far, only +21,000 Americans have gone happily to their Maker shortly after being jabbed. Another 110,000 or so luckier souls only required hospitalization, according to the CDC’s dysfunctional VAERS reporting system which actually captures as much as 5% of actual vaccine injury data according to a Harvard study. Great News! Forget all those young, healthy athletes who seem to be dropping like flies after receiving their mandated jabs. Those videos are just conspiratorial right-wing optics; just one more prime example of “misinformation” that our diligent High Tech protectors are working tirelessly to shield us against.

Suddenly we have heard astounding news from the CDC that dying from Covid is not the same thing as dying with Covid. Sure, I might die with a steak knife in my hand but that doesn’t mean that the wine wasn’t poisoned (which is why you should always leave your waiter a decent tip). Yes, this is a truly ingenious virus, masquerading under a host of names and symptoms: Covid, Delta, Omicron ~ and like James Bond, all licensed to kill. Imitating that legendary secret agent these sly, covert variants can employ any number of fatal techniques, but they seem to get more creative when boosted by an experimental, gene modifying jab. Their favorite weapons to date are diabetes, heart inflamation, blood clots, embolisms, cardiac arrest, organ failures (and don’t forget falling off a roof). But these viruses also play with your mind to create depression, isolation, social dysfunction, and various mental disorders, especially in children and adolescents. To that end our public authorities cooperate by encouraging lockdowns, remote learning, social separation, and facial diapers ~ all of which make every child’s life so much more meaningful.

To quote the legendary Elmer Fudd, “It’s a wery wascally wirus, to be sure.” So you’d better take whatever those all-knowing governmental paladins of health demand of you seriously because this curve is still not sufficiently flattened. (Now wait a minute, did Fauci say two weeks or two years? We’d better go back and re-watch that speech, or was it the earlier one where he said Trump was over-reacting, or the one where he said that face masks were basically useless, or the other one when he promised….?) Well, from this point I think I’ll take my cue from Elmer Fudd. He’s harder to understand but way more consistent than any official narrative I’ve yet heard from the “experts.”

Francis J. Pierson +a.m.d.g.
